I just read Margo's Got Money Troubles and it helped get me out of my own reading slump! I've been recommending it to everyone who hasn't read it yet, it's heartwarming and LOL funny!
Creme Brûlée is my favorite dessert! My sweet husband recently bought a kitchen torch because he wants to learn how to make it for me lol
I've started to send physical cards to friends, just reminding them that I love them!
"Beauty is a beast that roars down on all fours / Demanding more / Only when your girlish glow flickers just so / Do they let you know / It's hell on earth to be heavenly"
favorite book i’ve read recently would be martyr! by kaveh akbar. it’s on the heavier side but very introspective!
lately i’ve been into the besito cookies from portos, a cuban bakery chain in LA. they’re basically shortbread cookies with dulce de leche filling and they are absolutely delicious.
i’ve been making an effort to make plans to hang out with friends or facetime friends at least once a week. i usually won’t do anything during the week because i get tired after work but life is too short to not do mid-week catch ups with your friends!
“swirled you into all of my poems” from fresh out the slammer will always be one of my favorite lines of all time
I recently read Gideon the Ninth. Took me a long time to get into (I read the first couple chapters a year ago and put it down until earlier this year), but once I got to Act 3 I was completely engrossed and zoomed through the rest of the trilogy. I like them because the author doesn't spoon feed what's happening to you, so you get to puzzle out what's really going on. I also learned a bunch of new vocabulary, which doesn't happen too often these days.
1. I've been going through a bit of a reading slump too. I've just been picking up and then quickly putting books back on the shelf. However, Sunrise on the Reaping was excellent and definitely gave me a rush! I've been recommending it to everyone. Now, I'm trying to finish A Song of Ice and Fire which I've been circling back to for the past couple of years.
2. I actually just made some lavender earl grey cookies with a lemon glaze! I brought them in to work and they got devoured, it was great.
3. I've found I'm not the best interviewer, especially with people I've known a long time. Lately, I've been working on checking in more and asking more questions to get to know my people better.
4. For some reason, Clara Bow has been stuck in my head this week, so "You've got edge, she never did / The future's bright, dazzling." Also, "I look in people's windows / Transfixed by rose golden glows / They have their friends over to drink nice wine." Thanks Sarah!
My favorite dessert is an ice cream cone hands down!!
Whenever anyone says “we should get together sometime…” I immediately pull out my calendar and plan something right then or it never happens. That helps a lot!
I have been listening to TTPD lately what with all the talk about it due to the 1st anniversary and I’m kind of into the Albatross but don’t have a stand out lyric.
I loved your jeans-out-of-the-dryer metaphor. Such a real feeling.
I am so surprised "The Alchemy" is number six for you! I agree with you re: "Fortnight."
What book are you recommending to everyone you know right now?
I'm currently reading The Motherload by Sarah Hoover and deeply enjoying her fearless honesty and introspection.
What’s your favourite dessert?
S'mores! We actually made them last night, for no special reason at all.
What do you do to forge / deepen friendships?
I subscribe to the theory that you have to hit a certain time threshold with people to attain the closeness that we want out of friendships. So, I do my best to carve out time for that person.
What is your favourite Tortured Poets lyric this week?
"But I've read this one where you come undone / I chose this cyclone with you" though whenever I sing this I always sing "psychosis" instead of "cyclone" (lol)!
Just finished GBBL, LOVED IT! A top 3 EmHen book for me (#1 being Book Lovers).
Now I’m reading The Favorites by Layne Fargo. Olympic Ice Skaters with romance, drama, and some Wuthering Heights themes?? I can’t stop reading
I devoured The Favorites *so fast*. Daisy Jones meets Wuthering Heights meets Ice Princess? Never signed up for a book quicker.

Sarah, how did you KNOW I've been looking for a go-to tiramisu recipe? I will be trying yours out ASAP. Thank you for sharing!
A sweet moment of kismet! Do let me know how it turns out.
I’m currently finishing a non-fiction book that is so engaging, it’s hard to put down. It’s called, “The Art Thief.”
I read that with my book club! It was gripping!
My favorite books of 2025 so far:
1. Cole and Laila are Just Friends
2. The Stolen Queen
3. The Story She Left Behind
My favorite book of 2024 was The Frozen River.
My favorite dessert is an ice cream cone hands down!!

“The Alchemy” really snuck up on me! Proof sometimes even I have a soft spot for a glittery pen 😉
