The Tour-tured Poets Wardrobe Predictions
Forecasting the ever-expanding clothing department of the Eras Tour ahead of its return to stage in Paris.
We’re officially on the eve of learning the fate of the Eras Tour setlist post-TTPD. Many fans have wondered if the European leg of the Eras Tour, which picks up tomorrow (May 9) in Paris, would see a setlist change following the release of The Tortured Poets Department which dropped April 19.
This setlist complication is one reason a lot of us, myself included, thought a new LP during tour was an impossibility. How do you rework a show with a canonical setlist that already spans *ahem* nine albums (#debutstan) over the course of three hours?
But that’s exactly what Poet’s April release date threatened. And as of last week, we seem to have confirmation of its fate in the tour thanks to a social media challenge video Taylor dropped on YouTube Shorts. The video featured a compilation of clips of Taylor and her dancers during tour rehearsal. Based on clothing clues (fashion can be so useful in establishing a timeline) that matched promotional photos from rehearsals in Glendale, Arizona a handful of the clips appeared to be from the 2023 leg of the show. But what caught more eyes were the clips that showed what appeared to be new choreography and props as well as staging that looked an awful lot like the interlaced ‘TTPD’ logo of Taylor’s latest album. This has forced many of us to accept the mind boggling thought that Taylor’s voracious approach to this tour has expanded at least 15 minutes to include a dedicated set featuring songs from Poets.
This, of course, has led to a number of incredibly important questions.
What songs will she play?
At what point in the show?
And: What will she wear to perform them?
I had so much fun putting the following moodboard and initial thoughts together to address those questions. This also gave me a great opportunity to look back and reflect (and perhaps laugh) at my original Eras Tour prediction post here. Though I must admit I think it held up relatively well in hindsight!
