Just finished watching ep 1&2 and the surprise song of the last show. I’ve been crying pretty much nonstop. Who else? Kam was right that we needed tissues for this hahaha I have a lot of thoughts, but mainly that there was a reason years and years ago I’ve put my trust in Blondie. I knew when those horrible attacks happened that it probably wrecked profoundly and that she wasn’t doing everything in her power privately to help in any way she can. There was a lot of criticism at the time because she wasn’t speaking out publicly. Some of the narrative was “unstan-ing”, and I just hope now those people are satisfied now… not that she ever needed to satisfy anyone’s wrong opinions. I hate saying I told you so, but getting the validation that Taylor is the person that I’ve always thought she is, is very satisfying.
I've just finished watching the first episodes (and crying) 🥹🤧 I expected to hear her talk about Vienna, just not right in the first episode. It broke my heart all over again (partially because I was supposed to be there at N2 and partially because it was such a horrible thing). That segment just fortified my opinion that she was very much right in not commenting on Vienna and the Southport attack because it affected her a lot, and (in Ed's words) people forget she's human, too... To see her broken after her meeting with the families of victims and survivors... I'm so awfully sorry that it happened to them, to her, and to us as a community. At the same time, I am so grateful to be a part of that community that still stands strong, unites people across the world, and brings them together. I'm so proud to be a swiftie and so grateful to have this insight into the tour (plus I was lucky enough to have seen the show prior to Vienna as well). I have many more thoughts but I'll stop myself now, the comment is already long haha. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts as well, Sarah!
I am wondering if the details and visuals we get with this series will flesh out The Life of a Showgirl and offer new perspective. The expectations that an album about a “Showgirl” set followed by the confusion of the lack of flashiness, I can see this offering more background and possibly heightened understanding.
Impressive deep dive into the production decisions behind the Eras setlist architecture. The question about album sequencing within the show is crucial, the order creates narrative momentum that goes beyond chronological retelase. Curious if the acoustic slot evolved from single songs to mashups as a deliberate response to fan engagment or if it was always planned as a scaleable format for deepr catalog exploration.
All I know is that if she cries I’ll cry. But truly I would love to know her thought process behind the ugly 2nd rendition 1989 outfits 😭 the OGs were perfect as is. She could have just removed the cold shoulder part from it to have less “error tour” moments. Also her thought process behind selecting surprise songs. Her down time and recovery. How she dealt with being sick while touring which she did mention briefly on Colbert. Why did she retire the Oscar de la Renta midnights bodysuit. Was there actually a fire backstage that ruined some of her wardrobe 💀
I want to know soooooo many things, but just a couple: did she know about Mastermind? Did she ever play herself (or did anyone else on the tour)? Did she ever know/suspect we had figured out a pattern, and deliberately change it? WHAT WAS WITH THE REP BODYSUITS? What about the missing pieces (gold/gold TTPD set for example)?
So excited! I would love to get a deeper look into her prep for the acoustic sets. How did she make those choices from week to week? What was her thought process? What different emotions did returning to some of those songs bring up? This was such a potent part of the show, and stripped down acoustic Taylor is my favorite Taylor. I hope we’ll get to learn more about this particular facet of the magic! (And like you mentioned, what about Debut??)
