Rather than a spreadsheet I use the ‘Add To Cart’ option and leave it in there for a week or so.. sometimes I forget about it (but I still get that little hit when I press [add to basket..]. Or I go back in and realise that I may have changed my mind on an item or an item is no longer in stock (a disappointment sometimes or maybe I don’t mind and realise that it’s not something I truly need or want).

Also when I’m out I tell myself ‘I don’t need it’ when it’s not an item for a specific reason, need or simply that I have something similar. I find this works and I stay strong, however occasionally something I see may pop into my mind for a second thought.

Vinted & Depop - I’m loving scrolling through both pre loved apps. I focus on brands I know and love so that I know the sizing, material, quality etc. but it also encourages me to have a little purge of my wardrobe and list items to sell.

This was such an interesting read! I’m going to try take a look at Indyx and find out more as I’m very intrigued!! 🥰

The boyfriend red stripe!!!!! I just got that for myself and love it! I appreciate you and all you share with us. I’m a single mom and sometimes feel guilty when I splurge but I know some pieces are timeless and deserved. I also bought the green Clare V. Purse btw! In love! 😍 I hear you and love your wisdom. So fun!

I couldn’t agree more about the fabric and color barriers to entry! Those are core parts of my system too. Fabric weight in addition to quality is also very helpful.

Lately, thanks to Indyx, I’ve realized I have investment opportunities in accessories! I get a lot of wear out of ones I love and don’t currently have much to choose from in my bags, shoes, and jewelry. So I’m looking and shopping with renewed confidence that it’ll be worth the time and money!

I also have found I lack dresses (or separates) for dressy but not formal occasions. I have a few wedding guest options I love, but for fancy dinners in the city, I’m at a loss. So I just bought a gree(eeeee)n silk Ann Taylor dress that I’m in LOVE with and, Sarah, I think you’d just die for it!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and for the space to share mine as well! I always love the conversations your writing inspires. 💚

I love how you really can actively learn about your habits and preferences in the app. It makes gaps in your wardrobe clear for future buys and also where you can soundly invest based on repetition. An example for me is WOW I wear a white tee very often - enough that my CPW would net really well if I opted for a more luxe one that will last longer.

All this to say Le Set “Margo” I am coming for you.

I started using Indyx after you recommended it and I LOVE IT SO MUCH! It is so helpful to piece together my outfits and identify which pieces just weren't working in my wardrobe and why. Also it's like... really fun?!? I started using it as a 'barrier of entry' tool as well. If I'm considering a purchase, I upload the piece into my Indyx and I play around with the outfits I can make with it, and if I can't seamlessly create X# of outfits, I don't buy! It takes all the impulse out of the decision and has really helped me move more toward a sustainable capsule of pieces that really work together and work for me.

Never related to something more fully. My type of gal! I'm so glad you're finding it useful and I totally do this, too. It almost turns shopping into a fun moodboard game!

If you’re interested in getting your colors done, I highly recommend looking up House of Colour. It’s a UK brand, but they’re also in North America. They have the most comprehensive system, and it’s the best system I’ve ever seen. Highly recommend!
